Paul Klee was a painter born in Switzerland and his style
ranged from expressionism, cubism and surrealism. The portrait Lovers is in abstract form and displays two bodies in a warm
embrace. The male block figure embraces the female curvy figure as if
attempting to capture her lingering attention. The colors are vibrant and Klee
claims that he derives the abstract forms and complex symbols from the
unconscious. I chose this piece for my exhibition because of its focus on
symbols and structure and its unique presentation of affection. It presents an
opportunity for individual interpretations with out boundaries.
